Diagnosis Doesn’t Look Good

Dating App:  tinder

Swiper: Girl seeking boy

Timeline: October 2016

Date Type: In person

App dating, for the most part, is hookup culture and Tinder is the Mecca for hookup swipers.  It is the fast food of dating.

However, if you are in the small group of dating app users who are looking to get to date 2, 3, 4… you will have to dig and dig through the piles and piles of profiles.

If you make it through the dick pics, the open relationships, and the casual only profiles; you will find a very small number of profiles that deserve an in-person.

Here is the thing with the post-app in person first date –  it’s the worst type of blind date. Here’s why:

My story:

A male nurse, an avid bicyclist, a wine lover and cute to boot!  Dude with a good job, whose active, loves wine and I found him attractive? Jackpot, right?! Nope.

I got to the restaurant a little early and sat in the back.  The restaurant wasn’t very full – it was a Wednesday. He did not walk in from the front entrance, in fact, he walked up from behind me, where the bathrooms were and only an emergency exit. Suspicious.

He looked nothing like his pictures. He sat down and proceeded to get wasted off the two drinks he ordered.  He repeated everything I said and made terribly awkward and overt facial expressions as he spoke. The below is NOT an exaggeration.

Not a cyclist and hadn’t found a job as a nurse, either. Actually, told me he was rejected by a number of hospitals.

Ok – it was time to go. This guy LIED, LIED, LIED and two drinks was enough time spent.

I excused myself to use the restroom and decided I would end the date.  When I got back to our table, he was gone. I waited, thinking he may have also gone to the restroom. I didn’t want to be rude and just disappear.

10-15 minutes go by…

I left and texted him “I waited for you, but I guess you left”.  Within seconds, I received a message back, “You did? I’m still here, I’ll be right out.”

What?!  Where?!  The restaurant was completely empty when I left.  Was he in the bathroom this entire time? Ewwww… what was he doing in there?

I texted back, “Good luck. Bye.”  His response? “Can I take you out again?”

We never spoke after that text. This guy.
